0111: A significant addition to an existing victorian era home. This house had been "modernized" over the years in ways that are quite familiar to those fond of older homes. Aluminum siding, jalousie windows, original porch removed. Yet the house was greatly intact and a great example of its kind. The existing kitchen was in a one story shed space off of the back of the house. This space had been enlarged at some point and did not have any original character. We set out to enlarge this kitchen by several feet and then build a new bedroom and attic above it, completing the cruciform shape of the original house. We are respecting the character of the existing house, using a steep roof and ending the back of the house in a great porch that will match the rebuilt front porch.
