The Stealth House Group:
This collection began years ago with some sketches of houses
that were traditional in character in front, and unabashedly modern in
the back. The ideas sat in a sketch journal for years and then there was
a story in Dwell Magazine. A family built a modern house in a traditional
neighborhood and met great opposition from some of their neighbors. They
persevered and won the fight, but the story made it clear that there was
a place for contemporary homes in traditional neighborhoods. It is time,
we thought, to bring out the old sketches. These homes are designed to
fit on the narrow deep lots found in older neighborhoods, and for those
of you without the will for a fight they may just fool your neighbor.
