Site History:

Here we will post a description, and a direct link to what is new in our online catalog. When you visit you can check in here to see what has been added.

27Aug2015: Today the Construction Prints for the 1299 XHouse4, the slightly larger cousin of the XHouse5, are complete and offered for sale on the site. This brings the XHouse Collection to eight plan sets, and marks the end of active expansion of this collection. Like the Lagom series of houses the XHouse4 uses our highly energy efficient USA New Wall design, and Swedish Platform Framing construction methods, for excellent performance with ease of construction.

20Aug2014: Today we posted the Catalog Page offering Design Prints for the 1299 XHouse4, the slightly larger cousin of the XHouse5. This brings the XHouse Collection to eight plan sets, and marks the end of active expansion of this collection. Like the Lagom series of houses the XHouse4 uses our highly energy efficient USA New Wall design, and Swedish Platform Framing construction methods, for excellent performance with ease of construction.

25Sep2013: Today we've opened up a new section of the web site for Builders and Developers, link here. This This page not only provides information for builders on incentives and assistance with working with our plans, it provides a platform for Builders to contact us and tell us about their projects.

27Aug2013: Another intro for the catalog today - the 1204 RoHouse Family. This is a family of compact home designs meant for row houses, twins, and suburban townhouses. Two plan designs, 4 widths, 3 heights, in row or end of row units - 48 different plans. This family of designs will be in the XHouse Collection and because of the daunting total of 48 variations it will initially be offered only on a Pre-Order basis.

9Aug2013: Another big day for us - we are very happy to announce Construction Prints for the 0862 XHouse1 are complete and offered on the catalog page. This house design was the original offering in the XHouse Collection and we are thrilled that work on it is done and we can now offer it in our catalog.

22May2013: We are very happy to announce today that the Construction Prints for the 1201 XHouse5 are complete and offered on the catalog page. This brings the XHouse Collection to seven complete plan sets. And like the Lagom series of houses the XHouse5 uses our highly energy efficient USA New Wall design, and Swedish Platform Framing construction methods, but excellent performance with ease of construction.

11Sep2012: The last piece of the 0970 Lagom House trifecta - this is the West/East version of the Lagom House designed for lots on streets that run north/south. This completes the triplets that were orginally proposed in the house design competition that spawned this design. It was concieved from the start to have a massing that oriented the house to the sun, and as such would have a slightly different version depending on how the building lot was oriented. We are very happy to have this added to the collection.

2Sep2012: A new design introduced today, the 1201 XHouse5. This new design for the XHouse Collection is another MoTrad themed design which will find its way into our Stealth House Group for its ability to live well in existing traditional neighborhoods. This is part of a pair of related designs, the XHouse4 which is not posted yet is a very similar layout, with a slightly wider footprint and a little bit more square footage.

3Feb2012: A new plan added today, the 1192 Lagom House 2 Story. This is the same floor plan as our innovative 0970 Lagom House which is a 1.5 story house with second floor dormers. This full 2 story version adds a little bit more room and is easier to build.

1Oct2011: Good news today for fans of the 0970 Lagom House: the Construction Prints of the Southside version of the house are complete and posted to the catalog. This is the first house plan set to incorporate our USA New Wall and the new Swedish Platform Framing, fruits of our study of home building in Sweden, and the foundation of the energy efficiency of this new house plan.

22Jul2011: Today we introduce the LamiDesign+ Plan Collection, and the first plan set in the collection which is the 0751 RS House which has been covered extensively in our blog.

15Feb2011: Today we have added the Northside version of the 0970 Lagom House to the catalog and are happy to announce the availability of Design Prints for this variation on the Lagom House design. Breifly, this house design has distinct versions for the north side and south side of a street so that its wedge shaped form can serve as a platform for solar collectors. The desigin was introduced with the Southside version, and now is joined by the Northside version.

12Dec2010: We are very happy to announce the availability of Construction Prints for the XHouse3, the 2000sf 3 bedroom house that is part of our XHouse collection. This is the first of our designs in a MoTrad aesthetic. Take a look at the design of our newest plan set.

16May2010: Today we unveiled a complete redesign of the house plan catalog site. New look, bigger images of the designs, cool slideshow interface, and for the first time photos of our cutomer's houses grace the front page.

12Feb2010: Today we officially enter the Lagom House into the collection. The Lagom House is a design we created for a house design contest with the intention to eventually offer it as a house plan in our catalog. Its an efficient and high energy performance 3 bedroom house and points the way to a future with more modern and smarter houses. Check it out.

2Dec2009: Big news today as we add a new house plan to the collection: The Plat House 3. This is a 3 bedroom version of our popular Plat House design, and something that has been widely requested. We buckled down over the Thanksgiving holiday to create the Construction Prints and burned through the Design Prints and the catalog page during the following week. So rejoice, your three bedroom Plat House is here!

11Nov2009: We are very happy to announce the availability of Construction Prints for the XHouse2, the 1800sf 3 bedroom house that is part of our new XHouse collection. Take a look at the design of our newest plan set.

17Aug2009: New design day once again, the XHouse3 is posted today. The third design for our newest collection, the XHouse3 explores a new design theme in our work: MoTrad - a fusion of modern design and traditional forms. A compact 32ft by 32ft footprint, two stories, 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths in 1,986 sqft makes it a good candidate for in-fill projects in existing neighborhoods. Take a look at our newest addition.

12Jun2009: Today another new design is posted, the XHouse2. A second design for our newest collection, the XHouse2 hits a new sweet spot in size and value. A compact 30ft by 30ft footprint, two stories, 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths in a 1800 sqft package. The house will fit comfortably in dense neighborhoods, or a good size for your weekender at the lake. Check it out and see if its right for your life.

6May2009: We are very pleased to post a new design today: the XHouse1. This is also the first of our second new collection of designs called the XHouse Collection. While our Original Collection of home designs were really rooted in today, and the Blueprints Collection has its roots in mid-century modern, the XHouse Collection will be looking forward.

3Nov2008: We are pleased to announce a new promotion for November and December of 2008 - its our Kick the Crisis promotion and this is how it works:

Anybody who buys Design Prints in November or December 2008 will be eligible for a rebate equal to twice the value of the Design Prints if they order the corresponding Construction Prints before the end of 2009. So if you purchase a set of Small Design Prints in November for $100, and purchase Construction Prints in 2009 your prints will come with a rebate of $200. If you buy regular Design Prints for $200 and follow up with a Construction Print purchase in 09 they will come with a rebate for $400. Its double your design prints back! I hope that's not too confusing, its really quite simple. If you are kicking around the idea of building in 2009 or even 2010 or 11 then make sure you order Design Prints for the house you want in November or December 08 and purchase your Construction Prints by the end of 2009 to earn the rebate.

Ok, now I need some fine print to cover the details here. Lets see, you can't combine this deal with other offers - right, that's one that always gets tagged on to offers like this. Umm, oh yeah - we reserve the right to cancel any rebate, in case some smarty figures out a way to game the system, it would be no surprise if we got outsmarted on this so we have to watch our back. And last, this offer will not apply to multi-house licensing, meaning if you are a developer that is going to build a gazillion of one of these houses then you are not gonna get a gazillion rebates based on one Design Print purchase. Ok, everybody straight on that, now lets get going to Kick the Crisis!

3Nov2008: A new design posted today, The Hus1. This is the first of a new collection of designs based loosely on design themes from mid-century modern houses. Some of our favorite houses come from this time period and its an indulgence to persue these ideas in a very literal way. Design Prints are available immediately. Construction Prints are not begun, but that's the second design into this year so things are speeding up, no?

11Jul2008: Today we announced our impending price increase. The price of Construction Prints will be increasing from $1,500 to $4,750 on 24July2008. Yes, this is a significant increase, on the order of 3x, but still a small fraction of the cost of a home and a tremendous value in comparison to a custom design. The new pricing is part of a marketing agreement we have made with stock plan vendor Houseplans.com who will now also be distributing our designs. This really brings the introductory phase of our house plan venture to a close. We now have 8 different designs and 3 variations on one design available in Construction Prints for a total of 11 different plan sets, and another on the way in Design Prints only right now. And there are more great designs on the way. Customers have stepped up to the plate, and if have been watching our blog you will have seen many houses under construction at all ends of the country. Our house plans have found their way into media, appearing in the New York Times, Dwell, This Old House magazine, and soon Metropolitan Home, and numerous blogs covering design online. Our thanks go out to those early adopters and the journalists and bloggers that have covered them. As well as this launch has gone it has been a struggle to create the designs, market them, and maintain the sites to promote them, all while running a local architectural practice to keep our roof above our heads. The new pricing will allow us to dedicate more time to producing more product, so truly good things lie ahead. Thank you for following this adventure with us.

20Jun2008: A new design posted today, no kidding! The L House, another design that has been posted on the site since launch, but only a tiny thumbnail image. Many people have inquired for information about this house over the years so I am very happy to announce that the design is done, and Design Prints are available immediately. Construction Prints are not begun, but hey - I'm on a roll. Keep your finger's crossed it will keep up!

4May2008: Another hold out, today the Construction Prints for the Timber Case House, the wood post and beam version of the Steel Case House, are done and available. The Buy Now button has been added to the page to allow them to be purchased immediatly.

10Apr2008: At long last the Construction Prints for the Spirit of Palo Alto are done and available immediatly via the Buy Now button that has been added to the page. Sorry for the long delay on this one. A busy year kept me from completing them sooner. Its a great design and I look forward to seeing you build it.

4Feb2007: Today we are very pleased to announce the design of a new plan, the Spirit of Palo Alto. The Design Prints are now available and a new catalog page for the design has been posted. If you are a regular visitor to our site you will probably realize that this design was posted several years ago, and the only representation of the house on the web site was a small thumbnail sketch of the house. Well that small drawing of a boxy little house really did not do it any justice! I hope you enjoy having a good look at it, and inside now. We think it was worth the wait.

19Jan2007: For several years we have been maintaining a Blog on the LiveModern web site where we have journaled about the work we are doing with stock plans, prefab houses, and about our remodern movement. We have also posted images of our customer's homes when they have shared them. We have taken a big step this month in creating and hosting a mirror of our Blog here on our own site. We hope this will be a new favorite feature of our web site for the many visitors who have never read our Blog at LiveModern. Its a great way to see what we are working on, and for us to share what you are working on. Ok - here it is - book mark this: Our Blog is at http://blog.lamidesign.com

14Dec2006: Today we are very pleased to announce that the Construction Prints for the 0518 U House are now available. The catalog page has been updated with a "Buy Now" button for Construction Prints to ease the purchasing process for you. Many copies of Design Prints for this design are already out in the "wild". I am expecting we will see several built rather soon. If so, we will track the projects if the owners offer photos.

7Nov2006: Finally today you can order prints directly from the site. The purchasing engine is a Paypal service but it allows you to use any major credit card as well as a Paypal account. In keeping with our goal of a simple web site this works without an online shopping cart, without registering or creating an account. You can simply click through to pay and submitt your order online. Each catalog page now includes links for ordering Construction Prints, Design Prints, and Small Design Prints.

Oct2006: The 0242 Plat House which was built in Arkansas was published in Dwell Magazine this month, the October 2006 issue. This is the house that was tracked on the Plat House Construction photo page. The article was great and as the house turned out very well and very true to the design images for the house, it made a wonderful appearance in the magazine. Go out and find an issue!

7Aug2006: Today we post the web page for the 0518 U House. This design has been on the Remote House Group page almost since the launch of the site, but we have just recently completed enough work on the house to post the web page. Design Prints are available now.

29Dec2005: Today we are featured in an interview at design blog MocoLoco.com.

24Dec2005: Today we post the final construction installment for the 0242 Plat House which is being built in Arkansas. As before they are posted at the Plat House Construction photo page. Construction is finished, the owners have moved in and have shared some last photos of the house before it is fully furnished. We hope you have enjoyed watching this project come together.

20Dec2005: Today we announce the fourth, and last, variation on the 0357 Steel Case House design, The Timber Case House. This completes a series of modifications to make this unique design available to a range of different construction approaches. We now offer the original Steel Case House with its combination of steel, masonry, and wood construction; the SIPs edition which substitutes highly insulated SIPs panels for the masonry wall; the Metal Edition which is fashioned completely of steel products, and now the Timber Case House which is framed with engineered wood products rather than steel.

25Nov2005: I have been negligent in my posting of Updates here. There have been a continous flow of construction photos from the 0242 Plat House which is being built in Arkansas. As before they are posted at the Plat House Construction photo page. The house is nearly complete at this point and it is very instructive to compare the photos to the renderings of the house. The owners have personalized it, yet have stayed very true to the design. Along with their builder they have done a great job with it, I'm sure you will agree.

16May2005: A new update for construction photos from the 0242 Plat House which is being built in Arkansas. They are posted at the Plat House Construction photo page. The foundation is out of the ground now and before you know it the framing will begin and the familiar shape will begin to emerge.

17Feb2005: Today we very pleased to announce the launch of the web site for one of our prefab housing efforts, the 6040 House. A dedicated web site has been posted at www.6040house.com As details about this house emerge this will be the best place to find them.

17Feb2005: Today we announce a new name for an existing design, the 0242 Plat House , formerly known as the 0242 Deck House. New name, same great taste!

14Jan2005: We have begun a page for construction photos from the 0242 Plat House which is being built in Arkansas. You will find there is now a Plat House Construction photo page. All there is to see right now is the preperation to begin construction, but you can see that it is a very nice site.

14Dec2004: More construction photos from the 0385 Tray House which is being built in North Carolina. We just posted them on the Tray House Construction photo page.

12Dec2004: Today we are happy to announce that the Construction Prints for the 0380 Cube House are complete and available now. With its small bedrooms and large living spaces this house has challenged some of the status quo about how houses are built today. Its gained a bit of a passionate following as a result. We are very pleased to have it available and look forward to seeing it realized. The completion of this plan crosses another milestone as the anniversary of our 2nd year online slipped by unnoticed. If you look back to our second entry on this page dated the 31Jan2003 you will see that we had promised to extend our introductory discount till we had six different plans complete and available. We are very proud that this day has arrived as the 0380 Cube House is the sixth complete design. It is not that we are eager to raise the price! We are just very happy to have at least a rudimentary selection of different designs that can begin to address a variety of different living situations. There is some choice, and from the beginning creating choices for people who wanted modern houses was our number one goal. The introductory pricing will remain until the end of December for those who care to take advantage of it. Starting in 2005 our two year grand opening will finally come to an end!

16Nov2004: Some news today. We have been working on some designs for steel houses with a manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings from Delaware: Northern Steel. They are already selling traditionally styled cottage size structures and are eager to move into modern styled housing. A prototype is to be built this winter and it has been listed in the FabZone of the prefab web site Fabprefab. We have also dedicated a page to the work we are doing on this compelling prefab project.

22Oct2004: More construction photos from the 0385 Tray House which is being built in North Carolina. We just posted them on the Tray House Construction photo page.

2Oct2004: Immediately following the issue of our press release for the construction photos of the 0385 Tray House , MocoLoco.com published an update about the house and our plans.

1Oct2004: We are excited today to post images from one of the first of our stock plans to be built. A 0385 Tray House which is being built in North Carolina. We have added a new page to the 0385 Tray House portion of the site dedicated to Tray House Construction photos. Take a look, enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions.

17Sep2004: Today we are happy to report that we are enjoying widespread exposure from an unlikely source: This Old House Magazine. In an article by Daniel Akst, our favorite modernist journalist, called "A Better Breed of Stock Plans" he describes an emerging market in well designed stock house plans that resides somewhere between supermarket house plans and custom design. I am quoted on my take on the typical house plan design, and our Stealth House concept gets a brief description. Alas the article is too short, and none of our illustrations made it in, but we did garner 1st position in the listing of web sites given in the article which is fine consolation. The article appears in the Oct04 issue of This Old House Magazine, which also happens to be their 25th anniversery issue (of the tv show, not the magazine!) which is also good as it will lengthen the issue's shelf life.

19Aug2004: Today we are featured on the Land + Living web site which is a Weblog or Blog which tracks news and items of Modern Lifestyle for the home and garden. They said: Greg La Vardera is an architect who designs stock plans for modern homes. Stock plans have a bad rap as being uninspiring and - gasp! - occasionally designed by someone void of proper architecture credentials. However, with a solid understanding of modern design and its application in residential architecture, he has put together several plans that definitely take the bland and boring out of stock plans. We are blushing!

17Aug2004: Thanks to steady progress we are happy to announce today that the Construction Prints for plan 0367, The Porch House, are complete and available. This design created a buzz around here when it was first introduced last year. It was the third design that we posted in detail and because of this it was really the first indicator of the consistent design themes that would be emerging in all the designs. It has sat now for many months while we were busy completing other designs. We are very fond of this design, and so now very happy to see it complete and prepared for you to make real.

20Jul2004: Today we have added links on our home page that will take you to two new features of our site. The first is for our Development Blog, or Web Log which is an online diary of sorts where we report on the progress of our work developing new plans. This is a place to get a peak of what is "on the boards". The second is a link to our new Discussion Forums where you can discuss your favorite designs, ask questions about them or make suggestions for new ones. Both of these are courtesy of the LiveModern.com online community.

15Jul2004: Today the spotlight of publicity shone on us briefly as we were mentioned and quoted in an article appearing in the Boston Globe. The piece by Diane Daniel titled "Fab prefab, Dwell magazine leads the rebirth of a modernist movement in housing" appeared in the House and Home section today. You never can be sure which things you say in an interview may appear as quotes vs simply informing the content of the articles. I must say that I am pleased with what was quoted and I think it is worth emphasizing. I said "People who buy my plans are regular middle-class people who have slightly different tastes, not some design elite". The writer picked well because this is no small point. The growth of this re-modern movement is due to the appeal it has to people in a wide demographic. People who design has touched some way, and have realized that they can extend the satisfaction that it brings to other parts of their lives - now housing.

30Jun2004: We are very happy to announce today that the Construction Prints for plan 0242, The Plat House, are complete and available. You may order them at any time. Our introductory discount of 1/3 off the cost of Construction Prints is still in place as we promised it would be until 6 plans were available. 4 Down, 2 to go. We have been averaging about 2 months per set of Construction Prints. There remains 2 sets to complete before we hit our goal of 6. We are very motivated to get the next set of plans for 0376 The Porch House complete, so look for it at the end of august. Following that is 0380 The Cube House. It could be done by the end of October if we keep up this pace, but it could be longer. However, if you wait till the end of the year you may be pushing your luck! Shortly after the Cube house is complete the discount will end so there will be a short window to order it at the intro pricing. We have been working towards this day for a while and can finally see light at the end of the tunnel!

6May2004: Nothing gives us greater pleasure here than being able to announce the availability of a new design. Today is one of those happy days as the Design Prints for the plan 0242, The Plat House are ready, and the design has been posted to the site in a brand new page. This is the updated design, completely reworked version, of the preliminary which has been posted on the site for some time. But what a difference the update makes. The house is definitely of the lamidesign family now. Certain architectural elements will be familiar from the other designs, and at the same time this house introduces some character all its own. We hope you enjoy it, and for all those that have inquired, here it is, the information you have been waiting for in order to get to know the house really well.

30Apr2004: Well we've done it. Created a lamidesign Gift Shop.We have opened up one of those goofy Cafeshop.com "swag" shops to sell things emblazoned with images of our house designs! Why not? If you would enjoy flaunting your modern taste in housing we will give you the means. There are two mugs, and two T-shirts available now, each one with a different house design featured. Without making this online shop into a bigger deal, for now I can only offer each item with one house design on it. If this is popular I can revisit that and expand it. In the spirit of disclosure I'll let you know that I have marked up each item $2 above the base price that Cafeshops takes for each sale.

12Mar2004: Today we are featured on the MocoLoco Web site. MocoLoco is a Blog/Webzine which tracks all kinds of news in modern contemporary design. Here is the description from their web site: MoCoLoco is a web magazine dedicated to everything related to modern contemporary design and architecture, including; residential architecture, interior design, furniture, accessories, lighting, floorcoverings, wallcoverings, books, websites, audio-video, online & retail stores and more. Our design-savvy audience stops by frequently to check out the latest news, reviews and recommendations for products and services. We are very excited to see our stock plans picked up by media like this. Word is getting out there!

10Feb2004: Good News!. Today the Construction Prints for plan 0385, The Tray House, are complete and available. You may order them at any time. Our introductory discount of 1/3 off the cost of Construction Prints is still in place as we promised it would be until 6 plans were available. Time to take stock of our progress. As of this date we have 3 plans complete and Design Prints and Construction Prints available, we have 2 plans with Design Prints complete, and 1 plan in progress for Design Prints. There are also several other plans at the sketch phase. We are about 2/3-3/4 of the way to our goal of 6 plans. That sounds close on our end, but on your end you still have plenty of time to order prints at the introductory price.

30Dec2003: We are very pleased today to once again unveil a new design. Today the Design Images for plan 0385, The Tray House, are complete and the official page for this design has been posted. This rather humble house has generated a great deal of interest since the thumbnail sketch was first posted to the web site several months ago. We are always impressed by the instinct, and insight, of people who seem to be able to pick out the house for them, a house that moves them, from the tiniest of design sketches seen here on our site! Design Prints will be available shortly after the new year so you may order them at any time if you are interested in this house. Development of Construction Prints for this design will begin immediately in the new year as well.

4Dec2003: We have just added a page of incredible renderings of our Porch House Design titled Postcards from the Future. These were created by digital artist Patrick Merminod. These images will give you a bit of a taste of this house in "real life." If you enjoy them let us know and we will forward the news to Patrick.

12Nov2003: We are always excited when we unveil a new design. Today the Design Images for plan 0380, The Cube House, are complete and the official page for this design has been posted. The thumbnail sketch of this design has been on the web site for some time but now you can see the house fleshed out with the same detail as our other designs. One of the most exciting aspects of this design is that it was born out of a dialog with a person who inquired about plans just as many of you have. Design Prints will be available shortly after this update is posted so you may order them at any time if you are interested in this house.

27Sep2003: We have begun a page of Links. This will serve two purposes. First it is intended to expose you to other sites promoting Modern Houses. The more consolidated we can be, then the more we can speak with a unified voice and begin to change the housing industry to be more modern friendly. Second it is intended to make you aware of products and manufacturers that we and other lamidesign home owners know of.

4Sep2003: To date we have been introducing designs as they were completed, but for the initial designs we posted when the site was launched. Over the past year we have been surprised by the amount of interest generated by these works in progress. As a result we have made a change in process. Rather than advance one project at a time from design through construction prints we have decided to broaden the front so to speak and develop multiple projects simultaneously as driven by your interest. We have already been implementing this throughout August and there are many new projects listed on our catalog pages now. Up to now many of these have existed only on the pages of my sketch journal, but now we are in the process of making the most promising of these designs concrete. Each will be developed up to the "3d sketch" level you see on the catalog pages, and then into more detailed development to create the design prints and images you see for our complete projects. It is an exciting creative process and I hope you will join in by contacting us to say which designs you like best. We have corresponded with several people who have inquired about the Cube House, the Plat House, and the Spirit of Palo Alto. We have shared some behind the scenes design information and gotten invaluable feedback. So scan the catalog tell us what you would like to see first!

1Aug2003: The Design Images for plan 0367, The Porch House, are complete and the official page for this design has been posted. Go there now and look at the images. This design is also now featured on our home page. We are excited about this one as it is our first plan to be developed in the Camp House group. The Design Prints will be available shortly as all the design work is done and merely needs to be assembled - they will be ready by the time you are reading this. We have also left the page of development sketches for this design online and linked to it from the new page. Enjoy.

17Jul2003: Back in March we gave you a sneek peak at a design in progress. Since then we have given this project a plan number 0367 The Porch House, our first plan to be developed in the Camp House group. The design is well under way now and you can get a good idea of what its going to be like. Have a look at the progress.

6June2003: Today we have updated the image on our home page with a picture of the first Steel Case house built from our Remote Plan house design, and I think you will have to agree that it is quite remote. In fact the truth is the most remote thing about this house - you see it is not a real picture but an incredible rendering made for us by digital artist Eric DeGiuli. Eric is a master with terrain and world generation software and graciously agreed to render an image of one of our houses set into a landscape which he has created. The image you see is a small crop of a tremendous panorama which shows our house in a landscape of epic proportion! You can see more of Eric's work at his own web site here, and at his personal gallery at 3d Commune here. I hope you enjoyed it!

27May2003: Construction Prints for the Steel Case house, project no. 0357 are complete and Available NOW. It is has been completed about two months behind schedule, but good things come to those who wait, so if you have waited, the waiting is over and it is time to Run, don't walk, and get your set now. I always wanted to say that. Here is a link straight to that page.

31Mar2003: While much work is going on behind the scenes, a small update to the web site.

There has been an inquiry for more information about one of our designs under development so we have posted a series of sketches from the progress of the project. We hope this is an interesting peek into the process.

16Feb2003: Today we have a great snow storm, and so great progress is made here at lamidesign.com/plans!

31Jan2003: New Designs are under way as we strive to fill out our initial offering of plans.

In response to requests from visitors to the site we have accelerated the development of a steel framed house, the Steel Case house named for the Case Study houses built in the late 40s and 50s by Arts and Architecture magazine. We have moved this project rapidly from the sketchbook to schematic design. The Design Prints will be available soon. You can see a portion of the house in the new image on our home page, and a thumbnail view on the Remote House page.

We have also decided to extend our introductory discount - 1/3 off the cost of Construction Prints - until we have completed plans for 6 different designs. This is in response to the eager support we have gotten from so many visitors to the site. We want to offer this discount to our early patrons while we build the plan collection. When we have 6 plans prepared we will evaluate our options for advertising and instate the regular pricing.
